Hollywood joins other film industries in the world planning to get back to work. Proper hygeine and safety measures are the need of the hour, major studios and labor unions are aware of this. On, Monday they jointly proposed a set of safety measures to allow the shooting of films and Tv shows.

The governors of Chicago and New York, received a 22 page list of recommendations from an Entertainment Industry Task force which will facilitate in the shooting process of Films and Tv shows.

In the list sent to the governors, the task force proposed regular testing of the cast and crew. Further the guidelines have made wearing masks compulsory for the crew and to check the temperature of the crew daily.

Actors have been provided a relief from wearing face masks though intimate scenes between them is to be reduced. Digital effects if needed are to be used instead for the intimate scenes.

Big companies such as Walt Disney Co (DIS.N), Netflix Inc (NFLX.O), AT&T Inc’s (T.N) Warner Bros and Comcast Corp’s (CMCSA.O) NBCUniversal, plus unions including SAG-AFTRA, IATSE and the Directors Guild of America have come together to create the guidelines.

Each one of them is focusing specifically on testing as without it the risk of virus heightens. In a statement released by Directors Guild, it read:

“Without testing, the entire cast and crew would be working in an environment of unknown risk.”

The risk of virus will be more prone amongst the actors and those close to them as they will be shooting without any protective equipment, so their testing will be made the top most priority according to the rules.

One of the county’s, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors will start discussions from Tuesday for restarting work. The county contains many movie studios.
