I've not watched 'Padmavati': Prasoon Joshi!

Prasoon Joshi, chairperson of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) says that he has not watched the movie ‘Padmavati‘ till yet. However, he says that there were few speculative reports that are made by the few publications that are carrying out that he has watched the movie ‘Padmavati’. He says that those reports are absolutely baseless and are untrue. He says that he has not watched the movie and he did not express any views regarding the movie. The movie will be going to follow the due process at the Central Board of Film Certification.

Earlier there were reports from the well-informed sources that Prasoon had watched the movie and in the movie, he did not find anything objectionable in the content and as expected the movie will sail through without cuts. The movie ‘Padmavati’ is in the news as various organizations, political parties, and individuals standing up for the Rajput community. They all are opposing the movie’s release from the fear that the movie will distort history in the telling tale of Rajput queen Rani Padmavati.

However, the makers of the movie have said many times that their upcoming movie is devoid of scenes that may hurt anyone’s sentiments. Last week, Prasoon Joshi come out in the support of Sanjay Leela Bhansali when the Bharati Janta Party, Arjun Gupta, he is also a member of Central Board of Film Certification and he has urged to the Home Minister Rajnath Singh that the makers of the movie should be tried for treason for distorting history.

Moreover, Prasoon Joshi said that it is really unfortunate to see that the personal point of view which has been expressed by an advisory panel member of CBFC against Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He says that by no means does it represents the point of view of CBFC as an organization or the CBFC board. They have respect for the filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali as an individual and as an artist.

The movie ‘Padmavati’ is an upcoming Indian period drama. The movie which is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and jointly produced by Bhansali and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures. The movie features Deepika Padukone in the title role as Rani Padmini, alongside Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor, Jim Sarbh and Aditi Rao Hydari.

The movie ‘Padmavati’ is all set to release on December 1, 2017.
