Distributors boycotting Imran Khan’s film ‘Main Bhi’ starring #MeToo accused Alok Nath

Producer Imran Khan who has produced the movie titled ‘Main Bhi‘ is having a hard time distributing his movie. Distributors around the country are not willing to take his film as it stars #MeToo accused Alok Nath.

Alok Nath is playing the role of a judge in the film titled #Main Bhi (#MeToo in Hindi) based on #MeToo movement and sexual harassment.

“We wrapped up our film last year in July, long before the allegations against Alok Nath ji were made public and he was banned. A year ago, any producer would have cast him in such a role,” Imran argues.

He further adds, “He has worked with Subhash Ghai, Yash Chopra, and Karan Johar, so where have I erred in casting him? I’ve approached so many distributors and advertisement agencies, but distributors are not buying my film due to him. It’s an injustice to a small producer like me who in all fairness cast Alok Nath ji at the start of 2018.”

Ironically, the film is based on sexual harassment for which Alok Nath was accused about a year.

Veteran actor Alok Nath who was considered “sanskari” by Bollywood, landed into controversy last year when producer-writer Vinta Nanda accused him of raping her years ago. Soon after that, Cine and TV Artistes Association (CINTAA) expelled him after a no-show at a meeting held on November 12. However, the actor denied all the allegations made by Vinta Nanda and even filed a defamation case against her on October 15, 2018.

“We’ve long spoken about girls being abused, but my film is the story of boys from Bhopal slums who go through similar trauma since their childhood. I locked the script and registered the title, Main Bhi, long ago,” he states.

The producer has worked with both the accused Alok Nath and the accuser Vinta Nanda in Tara and Hero Uncle. When asked about any such incident during the shoot of his shows he answers, “Everybody in the industry knows that there are two sides to Alok Nath—one before he starts drinking and other after he is drunk. I don’t remember any untoward situation, he was always a gem of a person. But what transpires within the four walls is something that only the woman and man can say.”
