It is going to be almost a decade since Naseeruddin Shah, Arshad Warsi, and Vidya Balan starrer Ishqiya was released. The fans got a sequel in 2014 and since then have been waiting for the third installment.
As much as we want the third film of the franchise to go on the floors, so wants its actor Arshad Warsi. “I really want Ishiqya 3 to happen. I’m fond of the franchise and not just because I’m a part of it. It is not a regular film. For a film to stand out in today’s times, when hundreds are being made, Ishqiya is a huge achievement,” he told Mumbai Mirror.
Even the producer of the franchise Vishal Bhardwaj is also very interested in the third part. The script of the film is also ready. Vishal has to read it and make a decision. Arshad said, “I met Vishal Bhardwaj (producer) a few days ago and we got chatting. Even he is keen on another installment. Jaya Mishra has a script, which I think, Vishal will listen to and decide.”
The 2010 black comedy Ishqiya starring Naseeruddin Shah, Arshad Warsi, and Vidya Balan was a commercially successful film that also received wide critical acclaim. The film won five national awards including best music direction for Vishal Bhardwaj. It also turned out be a highlight of Vidya’s career and got her Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance.
Four years later the film got its sequel in 2014 the from of Dedh Ishqiya with Naseer and Arshad reprising their roles and Madhuri Dixit and Huma Qureshi were introduced as Begum Para and Muniya.
It would be interesting to see who will be cast in the third installment.
