Actor Jaaved Jaaferi who was recently seen as Bachchan Dubey in Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Bala has joined the cast of Coolie No. 1 which is a remake of 1995 hit film of the same name.
The announcement was made on the Twitter page of Pooja Entertainment. Announcing the new development, the makers said Jaaferi is someone who “has always tickled our funny bones with his perfect comic timing.” Jaaferi commented about working with the cast, “this is a fabulous team. It’s going to be a riot!”

Coolie No. 1 stars actors Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan in the lead role while Paresh Rawal and Shikha Talsania are also reported to be playing key roles.
While there is no information yet about Jaaferi’s role, Rawal is reported to reprise the role of the heroine’s father Hoshiyaar Chand, which was portrayed by the late Kader Khan in the original film.
The upcoming film will be directed by filmmaker David Dhawan who also helmed the original one starring Govinda and Karisma Kapoor in the lead. The film is being produced by production company Pooja Entertainment owned by Vashu Bhagnani who also co-produced the original film with Ramesh Taurani.
The film is expected to be theatrically released in India on 1 May 2020, the occasion of International Workers’ Day.
