Jackie Chan and Wu Jing, two of China’s biggest action stars are collaborating for an action adventure that revolves around climbing the Mount Everest. The film is about the first Chinese mountaineers to summit the world’s highest peak and the movie is titled, ‘Climbers’ in English.
The film is produced by Shanghai Film Group and is directed by Hong Kong filmmaker Daniel Lee. ‘Climbers’ will recreate the real-life expedition of Chinses climbers Wang Fuzhou, Gonpo, and Qu Yinhua, who climbed the Mount Everest’s North Ridge in 1960.
The Chinese team was the first one to climb the North side of the Everest, which is considered one of the deadly climbs. The trio famously left a small statue of Chairman Moa on climbing the mountain, They also rescued the fourth member of their team returning midway who was nor able to finish the climb.
The film also features young actor Jim Boran and TV personality Hu Ge to star as the other climber in the quartet. Zhang Ziyi will essay the role of a meteorologist who assists the mission.
Currently, ‘Climbers’ is completing its shooting in China and the film is expected to release on Chinese National Holiday or on Chinese New Year 2020.
