Jagga Jasoos Movie Review!
Anurag Basu‘s much-awaited movie “Jagga Jasoos” has been finally released. The movie structured as chapters from a comic book. The movie has used classrooms full of kids and their teacher, Shruti (Character played by Katrina Kaif) as its main storytelling device.
The movie starts as Shruti narrates the story from the story book, and we get into Jagga’s world which is full of marrying characters and rhyming dialogues. The most exciting thing is Jagga’s musical method of unraveling mysteries.
The story of little boy Jagga (Ranbir Kapoor), who stays in a hospital. One day he meets Saswata Chatterjee and builds a strong bond with him and became his father. Jagga stammers upon words but it’s the pep talk with this father-like man which makes him ‘Jagga Jasoos’.
The movie unfolds when Jagga’s father goes away from him and is later believed to be dead. While in search of his father Jagga meets Shruti Sengupta and there is hope in life. The hope of meeting his father again.
Amitabh Bhattacharya has credited the lyrics and the amazing rhyming dialogues as it is part of the game. VFX could have been a way better as we can clearly see when it’s not real.
Shruti aka Katrina is a journalist and Jagga aka Ranbir is a jasoos and now we know the reason behind it because he solves a mysterious case in his hostel. Jagga likes reading and has a knack for looking beyond the obvious.
The second half of the movie is all about Jagga and Shruti trying everything possible way to find his father, who’s called Badal Bagchi. Pritam has done a great job in the movie. Songs like ‘Galti Se Mistake’, ‘Khaana Khake’, ‘Ullu Ka Patha’ are catchy and will stay with you. Also, choreography by Shiamak Davar is unusual and brings in a kind of quirk required in this film.

However, Ranbir manages to make us laugh and keep us entertained.  Katrina Kaif has little to do but makes for a good sidekick to Jagga. Saswata Chatterjee’s vulnerability and Saurabh Shukla wickedness balance each other perfectly.

The best part of the movie is the bond between Jagga and his father. A couple of the spanking songs are great fun. That is the only part where movie speaks in its own voice.

`However, the climax has an interesting surprise in store which certainly gives a window to the sequel of Jagga Jasoos.
