Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF) Marks Jaipur as a Capital of World Cinema in India

Jaipur International Film Festival is held annually in Jaipur in the month of January. This time its the 11th edition of the JIFF festival which will start from 18th to 22nd January 2019. JIFF has established Jaipur as a prominent capital of world cinema. It is one of the world’s biggest competitive film festivals. The inauguration of the JIFF 2019 will take place at the historical movie theatre, GEM Cinemas at 5 pm on January 18, 2019. Filmmakers, Actors, Directors, Writers, and Producers from around the world are expected to join JIFF. The Five day-long JIFF Festival’s main venue will be GEM cinema.

The inauguration of the JIFF will be grand as 25 Filmmakers from 25 countries around the globe will simultaneously inaugurate JIFF 2019, Rajeev Arora, Chairman JIFF. The Chairman also added that they have film directors, producers, writers, actors, and actresses from 25 different countries and had received consent for the same. The guests are from France, Germany, Yemen, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, USA, Australia, Africa, Bosnia, Italy, Mauritius, Nepal, Nigeria, Peru, Romania, Serbia, Singapore, Switzerland, Tunisia, and U.K.

The GEM of Jaipur will be brought back to life, said Sudhir Kasliwal as The GEM Cinema was out of existence since 2005. There was a time when people enjoyed watching movies in the GEM cinema over Rajmandir. It was started on July 4, 1967, with showcasing Dharmendra and Mala Sinha starrer Pooja Ke Phool.

A total screening of 232 films will be there along with the workshops, seminars, master classes and special chat sessions at JIFF 2019. The 11th edition of the JIff is about to create history by being the World’s Biggest Competitive Festival. In JIFF 2019, 64 countries will be competing with 227 films amongst which 41 are feature fiction and 129 are short fiction films.

JIFF will establish Jaipur as the new film capital of the country. Because of JIFF,  the Tourism, Art & Culture of Rajasthan has found its new recognition globally.
