The failure of Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, was a turning point for the studio. After that film, Andrew Garfield left the role of Spiderman, which went with Tom Holland, who starred in the Marvel films.

While Garfield is no more Spiderman, the villain of his last spidey film, Electro will make a comeback in the upcoming third Spider-Man film. Actor, Jamie Foxx who played the role will reprise his role again. As per The Hollywood Reporter, he is in ‘final talks’ to play the role.

Sony and Marvel had signed a deal to combine the two universes, after the debacle of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Last year, it looked like the deal will be called off, only for the studios to come back again.

Last year, actor JK Simmons had reprised his role as J Jonah Jameson in Spiderman: Far From Home. Though, it was only a cameo. He had played the role earlier in the Tobey Maguire led Spiderman films.

On the other hand, THR states that the rest of the main cast of the film, which includes actors Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, and Marisa Tomei, will return for the third part of the film. Director, John Watts too will come back.

Sony is also gradually developing its own Marvel universe. Last year, it released Venom, which became a hit. Next up, for them is Jared Leto starrer, Morbius. Further, the Sony and Marvel universe will again form a connection together. Michael Keaton, who played the role of Vulture in Spiderman: Homecoming, will make an appearance in the film.

Meanwhile, Tom Hardy is going to start working on the sequel of Venom, titled Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

If indeed, Jamie Foxx returns as Electro in the third film, fans will be in for a treat.
