Bollywood actor John Abraham, who was recently seen in Anees Bazmee’s Pagalpanti, has been roped in for Rohit Dhawan’s next directorial venture, according to a report on entertainment website Bollywood Hungama. The report also said that the film would be a remake of 2015 Tamil film Vedalam which featured Ajith Kumar, Shruti Haasan and Lakshmi Menon in the lead roles.
The report quoted a source close to the development as saying, “Being an action film that featured Ajith, Rohit was pretty clear that he too would need an A-list action star for its Bollywood remake. Now John Abraham, who has already proved that he is perfect for an action entertainer, was an obvious choice for it.”
Revealing further details about the film, the source said, “Though there is still time before the venture goes on floors, the Vedalam remake is currently being backed by Bhushan Kumar, and will be produced under his banner T-Series. In the past, Bhushan and John have collaborated on multiple projects, and with T-Series coming on board, John’s part as the lead in this actioner was further reinforced.”
Rohit and John have previously collaborated on 2016 film Dishoom that also starred Rohit’s brother Varun Dhawan. It was recently reported that Rohit was making the sequel of Dishoom and Varun would star in it. But, the reports were later denied by Varun.
Meanwhile, John Abraham is filming for Sanjay Gupta directorial Mumbai Saga which is coming out in cinema halls on 19 June 2020 and Milap Zaveri directorial Satyamev Jayate 2 which is scheduled to be released on 2 October next year. He also has another film titled Attack in his kitty which is currently in pre-production stage.
