John Abraham has been seeing a highly successful time since last year. He had two releases in 2018, Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran and Satyameva Jayate. Both the films were huge hits at the box office.
Coming to 2019, his Batla House that come out on Independence Day also emerged as a big success. But in between these hits, there was also Romeo Akbar Walter (RAW) that released in April this year and could not succeed.
While action genre was working very well for him, John recently shared what went wrong with Romeo Akbar Walter. “The problem with RAW was the screenplay, which, I think in retrospect, was a little slow before the interval. The pace picked up in the second half but by then, the audience, which is looking for instant gratification, had disconnected. Had I made the film today, I would have made it more fast paced, added a few more action scenes. But those who saw it on the digital platform loved the film,” he told Mumbai Mirror.
Nevertheless, he still believes that it is one of his best films and “Robbie (Grewal) is a gifted director and a fantastic human being with whom I am doing two more projects.”
Written and directed by Robbie Grewal, Romeo Akbar Walter stars John Abraham, Mouni Roy, Jackie Shroff and Sikandar Kher. Initially, Sushant Singh Rajput was to star in the film as the protagonist but opted out of it due to his prior commitments.
The narrative centers around a banker who is recruited as a spy for an undercover operation in Pakistan, where he faces both physical and emotional challenges. The film was theatrically released on 5 April 2019.
Meanwhile, John Abraham is gearing up for his next release coming 22 November. Titled Pagalpanti, the comedy drama stars John, Anil Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Ileana D’Cruz, Pulkit Samrat, Kriti Kharbanda, Urvashi Rautela and Saurabh Shukla.
