John Abraham’s upcoming film Attack and Ajay Devgn’s film Bhuj: The Pride of India are all set to lock horns as they are releasing on the same day of 14th August, 2020. While the release date of Bhuj was already out there, the release date of Attack was recently disclosed by John during an interview with Mumbai Mirror.
John said, “Attack opens on August 14. I have come to believe that the day belongs to me, not just believe that the day belongs to me, not just because it is a national holiday but also for the feelings it brings forth. Attack is an apt Independence Day release, patriotic without being jingoistic.”
John Abraham is no stranger to having films released on the occasion of Independence Day. His Batla House came out on 15 August this year and Satyameva Jayate also released 15 August last year. He is no stranger box office competition either as his Satyameva Jayate clashed with Akshay Kumar’s Gold and his Batla House clashed with Akshay’s Mission Mangal this year.
On the other hand, Ajay Devgn’s next ambitious project Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior is also set to lock horns with Deepika Padukone’s Chhapaak on 10 January next year.
Attack also stars Jacqueline Fernandez and will go on the floors in January next year. It is written and directed by debutant Lakshya Raj Anand who assisted Kabir Khan on New York and Ek Tha Tiger, and Siddharth Anand on Bang Bang. The film will be produced by Dheeraj Wadhawan and Ajay Kapoor’s Kyta Productions and John’s JA Entertainment.
On the other hand, directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya, Bhuj: The Pride of India is based on Indo-Pak war of 1971, where Indian Air Force (IAF) squadron leader Vijay Karnik and his team with the help of local three hundred women reconstructed the IAF airbase. Ajay Devgn is playing squadron leader Vijay Karnik, the then incharge of Bhuj airport, in the film.
Besides Ajay, the film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Rana Daggubati, Pranitha Subhash, and Ammy Virk.
Being made on a staggering budget of Rs 100 crore, the war drama is being produced by Ajay Devgn, Bhushan Kumar, Divya Khosla Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Ginny Khanuja, Vajir Singh, Abhishek Dudhaiya and Kumar Mangat Pathak under the film production banners of T-Series, Ajay Devgn Films and Select Media Holdings LLP.
