Social media is a dangerous place to be in, especially if you are a celebrity. Online trolling, bullying and crimes have become a common occurrence on social media platforms. Meera Chopra, ‘Article 375’s’ actor is the latest celebrity to become its target. The actor had to face the wrath of Telugu actor, Jr NTR’s fans.

Meera who was conducting a live session on Twitter, received a question about her favorite actor from Telugu cinema. The actress further asked to comment on Jr NTR replied “I don’t know him…I am not his fan.” One user suggested her to watch Jr NTR’s films to get to know him, to whom the actor replied back writing “Thank you but not interested.”

Her unenthusiastic response regarding Jr NTR didn’t go down well with his fans who went ahead and started a hate campaign against Meera. Tagging her, several Jr NTR fans abused her and described her as a whore and other derogatory names.

Sad to see the hate she started receiving by Jr NTR fans, Meera tagged the actor and asked a question, tweeting:

“I didn’t know that I’ll be called a bitch, whore and a porn star, just bcoz I like @urstrulyMahesh more than you. And your fans will send my parents such wishes. Do u feel successful with such a fan following? And I hope u don’t ignore my tweet.”

The actor also received rape threats from Jr NTR fans which made the situation more toxic for her. As her tweets started trending on Twitter several users came out to support her, with artist Chinmayi Sripaada supporting her.

The artist asked her to post screenshots of the abuses and submit a letter with The National Commission for Women (NCW) as complaint against the online abusers. Meera did the same immediately afterwards.
