‘K.G.F. 2’: Raveena Tandon to play politician inspired by Indira Gandhi?

Actor Raveena Tandon is all set to play a politician in K.G.F: Chapter 2 which is the sequel of 2018 hit film K.G.F: Chapter 1. A report on entertainment portal Bollywood Hungama suggests that her character and look would be inspired by India’s former Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi.

The information is not being disclosed by the makers due to potential backlash against the character. The report quotes a source close to the film’s team as saying, “Portraying any real politician is a very big risk these days. More often than not, you have a whole lot of disapproving protesting masses who want to stop the film.”

The source further added, “She won’t imitate Mrs Gandhi. That would look very cheap and unconvincing on screen. She has seen the way Mrs Gandhi has been played in recent films. She would rather do it her own way.”

K.G.F: Chapter 2 will be directed by filmmaker Prashanth Neel who also helmed the first installment. The film stars Kannada actor Yash in the lead reprising his role from the first film and Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt as the antagonist marking his debut in Kannada cinema. The film is expected to be released in July 2020 and will be dubbed in Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu languages.
