On International Women’s Day, the makers of ‘Kalank‘ decided to introduce the “Women Of Kalank” starting with the central lead Alia Bhatt. One of the producers Karan Johar took to Twitter to share the first look of Alia Bhatt as Roop from the movie. The trailer of the highly anticipated movie is also expected to drop in sometime soon.
Johar shared the first look poster of the actress and wrote, “To love her is to love fire. Presenting Roop!”

The upcoming period drama is directed by Abhishek Varman and produced by Karan Johar, Sajid Nadiadwala, and Fox Star Studios. The film stars Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Kunal Khemu, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sanjay Dutt in lead roles. Music has been given by Pritam while Dharma Productions and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainments are the distributing companies of the film.
This film is Karan Johar and Abhishek Varman’s ambitious project. The film was conceptualized by Karan Johar and his father Yash Johar around fifteen years ago. The period drama film is set against the partition and Indian independence struggle in the 1940s. Actress Sridevi was initially signed for the character role played by Madhuri Dixit.
