The first look of Kamal Haasan‘s ‘Indian 2’ was released on Monday. The film’s director S Shankar took to Twitter to share the first poster and wished “Happy Pongal” in the caption.  The young composer, singer and instrumentalist Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music for the film.

The official first poster of ‘Indian 2’ only shows Kamal Haasan’s index and middle fingers intertwined and face is in the background with a somewhat angry look is blurred.

There were reports that stated that South Indian female superstar Nayanthara will be cast opposite Haasan, but Kajal Aggarwal rubbished the reports and confirmed her casting in Indian 2. She tweeted, “New journey, new experiences… Excited and looking forward to joining the sets of #Indian2 :)@shankarshanmugh @ikamalhaasan.”

She earlier confirmed the news, at the audio launch of her upcoming Telugu film Kavacham. She said, “I also have a film with Kamal Haasan sir. I am looking forward to working with him.”

The music composer also shared his proud moment on his Twitter account. he captioned the poster with the words, “Indian 2… Proud to be a part of @shankarshanmugh sir’s vision with Ulaganayagan @ikamalhaasan sir”

The making of Indian 2 has been officially announced on November 7, on superstar Kamal Haasan’s 64th birthday. With this movie, Haasan and Shankar will work together after two decades.

An insider earlier revealed that in this movie, Kamal will be sporting a clean-shaven look, unlike the prequel where he was seen with a mustache.

About making a sequel of blockbuster Indian, Shankar said, “A lot of things happened around us in these years, and all that will be discussed in the sequel. Though I have done many films, Indian 2 will be close to my heart. After finishing every film, I used to think about developing a sequel to Indian, but finally, it materialized this year. The script has come out very well.”

‘Indian 2’ is a sequel to 1996 release Indian, which starred  Kamal Haasan in twin roles with Manisha Koirala, Urmila Matondkar,  Sukanya and Goundamani in other pivotal roles. The first part was also helmed by Shankar and produced by A. M. Rathnam.

The film will go on floors from 18th January.
