Jayalalitha’s biopic ‘Thalaivi’ starring Kangana Ranaut to go on floors in July this year

Kangana Ranaut is all set for her second Tamil film in which she will play Jayalalitha in her biopic ‘Thalaivi’. It is being said that Kangana was apparently roped in because the makers believe her presence could help the film reach a pan-Indian audience.

Earlier there were reports that the actress will get ₹24 crores for her role in the film, which is the highest an Indian actress would have received for a regional film. But putting a rest to these rumors a source close to the director revealed that she is getting around ₹12 crores.

In a statement to the press, director Vijay had said, “Madam Jayalalithaa was one of the most prominent leaders of our country. Making a film on her life is a huge responsibility, and we are doing it with the utmost care and honesty. I am equally happy and proud to be associated with the very talented Kangana ji on the project.”

Thalaivi was granted the status of an official biopic, and the team has received a ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the late Chief Minister Jayalalitha’s nephew Deepak Jayakumar.

It will be produced by Vishnu Vardan Induri, while the dialogues have been penned down by Baahubali writer Vijayendra K Prasad, who also wrote dialogues for Kangana’s last film ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi‘.

The film will be directed by GV Prakash Kumar and it will be trilingual Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.
