After playing a demanding and physically challenging role in Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi Kangana Ranaut will be seen playing kabaddi player in Ashwiny Iyer’s Panga where the actor will be seen essaying the role of a Kabbadi player. When she was asked about the same, in an interview to Mumbai Mirror, Kangana said, “Well, like many sports in our country, kabaddi too has been largely ignored. I played it when I was young, but never took it up on any platform after that. Today, when I watch a match from the sidelines, it never fails to stimulate me,” adding, “But this story is not just about the sport, Ashwiny and Nitesh sir have also woven in family and children, relationships, values and a job in the Railways into the story which makes it an exciting film for me because this is a world I’ve never known or lived while at the same time it’s the story of every woman with a dream.”

Thanks to Imali (romantic-drama film), Kangana Ranaut will be reuniting with Anurag Basu after a long gap of eight years. She will also complete her hattrick with Rajkummar Rao (after working with him in ‘Queen’ and ‘Mental Hai Kya?’ already). Commenting about working again with Anurag Basu, Kangana said, “He taught me what ‘acting’ truly is and I owe my interesting career graph to him. We met again after a long gap during which I have grown as an actress, but with him I’m still a child who has a lot to learn”.

Kangana Ranaut’s debut film Gangster (2006) was directed by Anurag Basu after which Kangana worked with Anurag in Kites (2010).

The actress will begin rehearsals for Panga in September and kick off Anurag’s film in November but Imli has now been pushed to next year because Manikarnika is priority.

There have been numerous rumours floating about Kangana has had a fallout with the director of Manikarnika, Krish. Denying those allegations, Kangana said that they speak on an everyday basis, adding that Krish has another release on January 11, and could give dates only after that.
