J. Jayalalithaa was an icon. She was a film star and chief minister of Tamil Nadu for 6 times. Her story deserves to reach people all over the world. The late minister is getting a biopic, titled ‘Thalaivi’. The highly anticipated film is being helmed by Vijay and will see Kangana Ranaut as J. Jayalalithaa.

The film was set to release on June 26, 2020 but this won’t be happening now because of the Coronavirus. The film’s climax is yet to be shot and certain work is also left on the film.

Recently, owing to many films releasing on OTT platforms, speculation was rife that Thalaivi will also be released there. Quashing these rumors, news has now come that the film will first release in theatres thereafter on OTT platforms.

Famous trade analyst, Taran Adarsh confirmed this news on Twitter yesterday. Taran tweeted:

Lead actor, Kangana Ranaut told to a newspaper that although the film is sold to two major OTT platforms, the sheer size of the film means that it will first release in Theatres.

Besides Kangana, the film will also star Arvind Swamy (as MGR), Priyamani (as Sasikala) and Prakash Raj (as Karunanidhi). It is being produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shaailesh R Singh.

The film’s climax requires Kangana to shoot with a crowd of over 300 people but this will become impossible now because of the Coronavirus. The climax which is yet to be shot, will feature Kangana coming out of a legislative assembly with a crowd of people waiting for her.

We will have to wait and see, how the makers will shoot the climax and when the film will release.
