Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh is all set to play Kapil Dev in a film titled ‘83‘ which will be based on the World Cup victory in 1983. The movie will be directed by Kabir Khan and will be produced by Anurag Kashyap. This is the first time when Kabir Khan and Ranveer Singh will be working together for a movie.

Yesterday, Bollywood Analyst Taran Adarsh revealed the release date for the upcoming movie titled ’83’ on his Twitter account along with a caption saying, “#BreakingNews: #83, directed by Kabir Khan and starring Ranveer Singh as cricket icon Kapil Dev, to release on 5 April 2019…”

Kabir Khan, the director of the movie says that when he was young schoolboy he watched the Indians win the 1983 Cricket World cup and that time he did not know that the cricket in India will change forever. He says that as a filmmaker the journey of that win filled with the raw energy and sheer passion of that young Indian team is probably one of the exciting stories that he has worked on so far. However, he feels that t is even more great to have an actor like Ranveer Singh to play the role of Kapil Dev in the movie. He says that he could not see anyone else portray the role of Kapil Dev. Kabir says that he has Ranveer Singh in his mind ever since he finalized the script of the movie.

However, Madhu Mantena revealed that as a team they are extremely happy and proud to be a part of the upcoming movie titled ’83’. Moreover, she says that it has a story which is waiting to be told and she is very much sure that all the people across the globe will surely love this movie when it will releases on April 5, 2019.

The movie will be based on the life of legendary cricketer Kapil Dev. The movie will not only be focusing on the cricketer’s life but also will focus on the 1983 World Cup, where Team India won the cup under Dev’s captaincy. The first schedule of the movie will be shot in London.

On the work front, Ranveer Singh will also be seen playing the role of ‘Alauddin Khilji’ in his upcoming movie”Padmavati“, which is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and jointly produced by Bhansali and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures. The movie also features Deepika Padukone in the title role as ‘Rani Padmini’, alongside Shahid Kapoor and Aditi Rao Hydari.
