Kapil Sharma has been in the news all this while for all the wrong reasons is now making headlines again. This time it is not for a controversy. According to the sources, the actor-comedian will be felicitated with the Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Award for the second time and he is all set to receive this on Thursday at a suburban auditorium.
He previously received the award way back in 2014, when he reached the venue so late that there was no one in the venue to applaud him. He had to collect the award from stage coordinator. However, this time the actor has assured that he will reach the venue on time. Joining in the list of Priyanka Chopra and Kapil will be actors Gulshan Grover, Vivek Oberoi and few others who will be given the awards under a different category. Pahlaj Nihalani, State Cabinet Minister Subhash Desai and the city Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar will grace the event with their presence.
The recipient is honored for their “outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian cinema and TV” and is selected by a committee consisting of eminent personalities from the Indian film industry. Though, the stand-up comedian was recently in buzz for his mid air fight controversy with Sunil Grover. That led to three members of his show, Ali Asgar, Chandan Prabhakar and Sugandha Mishra to walk out of the show. The ugly spat between Kapil and Sunil did affect the comedy show’s TRPs. It fell drastically. Not just that, even Kapil’s and the show’s reputation was at stake. There were even rumors that the channel wanted to take the show off air. But that won’t happen now as the rating of it is getting back on track.
