Many movies have been delayed due to the ongoing pandemic and one such film is Ayan Mukerji’s much-awaited project Brahmastra which has been in the talks since 2018 creating a wave of excitement among the fans. Later this year when the makers announced the release date as in December 2020, fans were super excited but the recent update is that the film’s release date will be pushed further keeping in mind the ongoing pandemic.
While many films chose the OTT way for their release, the recent report by Bollywood Hungama states that producer Karan Johar is not keen on releasing Brahmastra on the OTT platform. The film’s final schedule will be shot this month but it will be a long wait until it reaches the fans.
The source was quoted saying, “Disney+ Hotstar has now asked Fox Star Studios if they can hand over Brahmastra for their streaming platform. What it means is, Disney+ Hotstar wants Brahmastra to bypass theatrical release and arrive on its platform directly. They feel Brahmastra is a keenly awaited biggie and if it gets premiered on their platform, it’ll fetch them record streams.”
The source further added, “Producer Karan Johar has not shown interest. He believes that the VFX heavy, the grand film would be best enjoyed in cinemas. As of now, there are no talks on the Brahmastra sequels. All the efforts of Dharma Productions and Fox Star Studios are on completing the first part. The shoot of the film is to get over this month after which the team will fully concentrate on the post-production.”
For those unaware, Brahmastra will feature Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, Dimple Kapadia, and Mouni Roy.
