Kareena Kapoor is one of those few actresses who are not only stars in the commercial sense but have also given fine performances on the big screen.
She has managed to give successful films after her marriage as well as after becoming a mother which is rare in Hindi film industry. With the kind of stardom she has achieved, can you even imagine that she would be asked to audition for a role.
But we have learnt today that Kareena was asked to give audition for the upcoming film Laal Singh Chaddha. While speaking to film critic Rajeev Masand she admitted that she was asked to read some scenes with Aamir Khan.
“Knowing the way he is, I think he just wanted to be 100 percent sure. I got a call from Aamir very randomly and I heard the script just then. He said he wanted me to read some scenes,” she said.
Moreover she wanted to check herself if she would be able to pull off the part. “I wanted to see myself if I can do it and that there is nothing wrong in it,” she added.
Admitting that she did not even tested for her first film she said, “Times are changing and I must also evolve. Saif told me even Al Pacino would test for a part in Hollywood. There is nothing wrong in it. We all have to be sure. I also want to keep evolving. I am very happy and I want to do different kind of work.”
Laal Singh Chaddha is the official remake of Hollywood classic Forrest Gump. While the original flick looks at the American history from the protagonist’s perspective who is a slow-witted but kind-hearted man, the Hindi remake will Aamir Khan’s Sardarji character will look at the Indian history from the time of the Partition.
The film is being made by Viacom and Aamir Khan Productions together and will be directed by Advait Chandan who also made Secret Superstar.
