Putting a rest to all the speculations, Kartik Aaryan has finally confirmed working together with Sara Ali Khan in Imtiaz Ali‘s next. The two young actors will share the screen space in ‘Love Aaj Kal 2’, also starring Randeep Hooda. The film also marks the second collaboration of producer Dinesh Vijan and director Imtiaz Ali after ‘Love Aaj Kal’.
As per reports, “Unlike Imtiaz’s previous two films – Jab Harry Met Sejal and Tamasha – which were set in foreign locales, this one will be shot in Punjab and Delhi.”
Confirming the news Kartik said, “He (Imtiaz) is one of my favorite filmmakers and I have always wanted to work with him. I am glad it’s finally happening.”
‘Love Aaj Kal’ was a hit film of 2009 and it featured Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone in lead roles. Recently, Sara’s father Saif Ali Khan was roped in to play an important role in the rom-com, for the sequel of his own hit film with Imtiaz — ‘Love Aaj Kal’.
Randeep Hooda who was last seen in ‘Baaghi 2’ has been roped in to play a pivotal role in the love story. Randeep’s character will be sharing the same space as Rishi Kapoor’s in the first part.
“Modalities are fast being worked out. Randeep is a perfect fit for the part. His character offers a clearer and experienced perspective on love to the lead pair,” revealed by a source close to the project.
If everything goes as planned, this sequel will mark as Randeep’s third collaboration with director Imtiaz Ali. They first collaborated in 2012 for the film ‘Cocktail’ (written by Imtiaz and his brother) and then for 2013’s film ‘Highway’ (written and directed by Imtiaz Ali).
