Warner Bros., the studio behind the Matrix franchise, has announced the release date of the fourth installment of the cyberpunk film series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The yet untitled film is set to hit the theaters on 21 May, 2021. It will star Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Ann Moss, Neil Patrick Harris and Jada Pinkett Smith. Matrix 4 will see a clash at the box office as another Keanu Reeves starrer, John Wick 4, which will also be released on the same date.
Matrix 4 will be directed by Lana Wachowski, who is a part of the Wachowski sisters, the creators of the Matrix trilogy.
The studio also broke another news, announcing the release date of DC’s The Flash film, which has been in development for a long time. The superhero flick that stars Ezra Miller will be released on 1 July, 2022.
The most recent film in the franchise, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, had released earlier this year and met with critical and commercial success.
If things go as planned and Lionsgate does not decide to change the release date of John Wick 4, the audience will get to see one of the biggest box-office showdown.
