The epic war drama ‘Kesari’ has passed its first Monday test with satisfactory numbers. The film starring Akshay Kumar has earned ₹86 crore net in five days and is expected to reach around ₹104-105 crore net over its extended week which is a good number.

According to the box office numbers shared by film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh on Twitter, the film collected ₹8.25 crores on its first Monday in theatres. Taran wrote, “#Kesari should’ve collected in double digits on Mon… North circuits dominate, driving its biz… Faces more-than-required decline in some circuits… Tue-Thu crucial…,” in his tweet.

Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Kesari‘ emerged as the highest opener of the year and Akshay Kumar’s second highest opener after ‘Gold’. The film earned ₹21.50 crores gross on its very first day and lived up to the high expectations of trade pundits.

‘Kesari’ has become the biggest opener of 2019 surpassing ‘Gully Boy.

Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Kesari’ narrates the story of the bravest battle ever fought in the history of world Battle of Saragarhi. It explores the story of Havildar Ishar Singh who participated in the Battle. The Battle of Saragarhi which was fought on 12 September 1897, is known as the bravest battle ever fought because it witnessed an army of 21 Sikhs soldiers of the British Indian Army against 10,000 Afghans.

The 36th Sikhs was an infantry regiment comprising only 21 Sikh soldiers. The regiment is now known as the 4th battalion of the Sikh Regiment. They were stationed at an army post and were attacked by around 10,000 Pashtun Orakzai tribesmen. It occurred in the North-West Frontier Province, now called Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan.
