Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey has settled a lawsuit with the estate of a man who had accused him of sexual assault, following the death of the accuser, as reported by Variety

The accuser was a massage therapist who had alleged that the disgraced actor had forced him to grab his genitals and tried to kiss him during a massage session in Malibu in October, 2016. Spacey had later denied the allegations.

The trial on the case was slated to take place in the federal court in June 2020, but the accuser passed away after suffering from cancer on 6 September last year.

His estate filed a notice dismissing the lawsuit on Monday (30 December) with each side agreeing to pay their own costs. Any other terms in the suit were not disclosed.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department had previously investigated the allegations made by the therapist and moved the case to the district attorney’s office. After the accuser’s death, prosecutors had announced they would not bring charges in the case.

Last week, right before Christmas, Spacey had released a video on YouTube, channeled as Frank Underwood, his character from the television series House of Cards, with a cryptic message.

His role was killed in the final season of the series after multiple allegations of sexual assault were made against him.

Another Spacey accuser, Norwegian novelist Ari Behn, had committed suicide on 25 December.
