Kiara Advani about her struggles: People think I know Salman Khan so it’s easy but it’s not

Kiara Advani

The year of 2019 has turned to be very fruitful and lucky for Kiara Advani. She appeared with Shahid Kapoor in Kabir Singh that became one of the highest grossing film of this year. She is now gearing up for another big film, Good Newwz where she will be seen with Diljit Dosanjh, Akshay Kumar, and Kareena Kapoor. She also has a number of other big films lined up.

While Kiara is now coming on her own and doing such big films, it was not always so easy despite having acquaintances in the industry. In a recent interview with Pinkvilla the actress opened up about her struggling period and admitted that though she did know some people in Bollywood after her debut but the journey was not that easy.

“People think that I know Salman Sir and so and so person therefore it must be easy. For sure, it helps when you know people from the industry they can help you meet people but it is not always that easy. It is not a surety for anything. It is not that those people you meet are going to definitely give you a film. It is not always that they all want to meet you because for them it is also like ‘But I don’t have anything to offer right now.’ Some people look at your last film if it worked or not and then think whether to take you or not. They also tend to take a fresh face in such situations.”

She even lost the hope if she would be able make it big in Bollywood but then she passed the audition for M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story and things took off from there. “It was a period that was very tough and I almost thought if I would get another opportunity here or not. Many auditions didn’t work but finally Dhoni clicked,” she said.

Kiara made her Bollywood debut with the 2014 release Fugly which was poorly received but got her first commercially successful film after two years in the form of sports biopic M.S. Dhoni. She again had to wait for two years till Nextflix film Lust Stories came out in 2018 and people started noticing her for her acting skills. She also made her Telugu debut the same year and starred in political drama Bharat Ane Nenu that emerged as one of the highest-grossing Telugu films. She followed it with Hindi blockbuster Kabir Singh this year.

Her upcoming projects include Good Newwz, Laxmmi Bomb, Indu Ki Jawani, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and Shershaah.
