The director of Shahrukh Khan starrer Raees has been planning a film for quite some time. The film is touted to be a social thriller and remake of a Korean film. Sara Ali Khan was approached to play the film lead but the actress had to reject the film due to dates issues.
A report on Pinkvilla quotes a source as saying, “Rahul needs an actress who can perform really well. Sara has proved her acting mettle in the first two films and when Rahul approached Sara, she really liked the idea and how Rahul has taken the idea of the original and woven it into a completely Indian subject.”
Although Sara liked the subject but due to her busy schedule she had to give it a miss “Sara has already committed her dates to a few other films – she’s doing Aanand L Rai’s next and is also in talks with Anees Bazmee for a film with Vicky Kaushal. She couldn’t accommodate her dates for Rahul’s film and now, after she also said no, the filmmaker has now decided to push this film for now and start work on another idea he’s developing,” the source added.
Interestingly, the role was first offered to Kriti Sanon and she agreed to do the part. Rahul and Kriti had also made an official announcement on the same. She also had tom opt out due to dates issues but it was an amicable decision on Kriti as well as Rahul’s part. “She finished Housefull 4 and then, moved on to shoot Dinesh Vijan’s Mimi which will also be her first woman centric film. Rahul’s film is also very female-driven with the lead heroine shouldering it completely. They parted ways amicably and Rahul was on the lookout for another lead,” an insider revealed.
