Amir Khan’s much-awaited drama Laal Singh Chaddha continues to sink in the second week of its release. Check out the full article to know more about the box-office collection of Laal Singh Chaddha.

Amir Khan Starrer ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ Continues Lacklustre Performance

The Bollywood adaptation of Forest Gump starring Amir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead roles fails to woo the audience. Directed by Advait Chandan, the film is a Hindi adaptation of Robert Zemeckis’ 1994 Oscar-winning film Forrest Gump starring Tom Hanks.

Despite a release during the holiday season, the film underperformed at the box office. While the failure of the film is being blamed on the boycott campaigns, trade analyst Taran Adarsh said that this isn’t the only reason.

“In the case of Laal Singh Chaddha, the film was devoid of merit. Also, when an A-lister is making an expensive film, he has to cater to an all-India audience. You can’t target your film just for the premium multiplexes. Laal Singh Chaddha was expensive and yet, wasn’t a film for audiences across India. Aap interiors mein haalat dekho picture ki. (You see how the film has been performed in the interiors of the country.),” said Adarsh.

Laal Singh Chaddha Box-Office Collection: Week 2

Amir Khan starrer managed to mint 11 crores at the box office on its first day. However, the film earned around 7 crores on the second day. The film collected around 17-18 crores in two days, which is too less than expected. Big multiplex chains have now witnessed a sharp fall.

Not only Laal Singh Chaddha but Akshay Kumar starrer film Rakshabandhan is also going through the same situation. Amid Laal Singh Chaddha’s disastrous performance at the box office, there were reports that there are no OTT buyers for the film.

A close source revealed that Amir Khan wanted Netflix as the streaming platform as he wanted the global push for his film. However, after the film flopped, there are no takers. The source told the portal, “Aamir started negotiations with a massive figure of Rs. 150 crores citing his box office history and records. If that was not enough, Aamir was also adamant that the film would release on Netflix a whole six months after its theatrical release. Netflix tried its best to get Aamir to relent and lower the cost and time period between the theatrical and OTT release.”

Helmed by Advait Chandan, Laal Singh Chaddha is the official Hindi remake of Oscar-winning Forrest Gump starring Tom Hanks. The film had a theatrical release on August 11.
