On the 12th of May, 2018, Lata Mangeshkar was awarded the title of Swara Mauli by spiritual guru Vidya Narsimha Bharati Swami. The veteran artist received the honor at her residence Prabhu Kunj on Peddar Road, South Mumbai.

Lata Mangeshkar was accompanied by her sisters Asha Bhosle and Usha Mangeshkar, and her brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar. To the present audience, Lata elaborated on her feelings upon receiving the honor. Lata confessed that she was extremely touched when she was informed that Jagatguru Shankaracharya of the Math at Kolhapur’s Karvir had decided to honor her with this title. In a short speech, she recalled the event of a few years in the past when the two had met at Kolhapur and Shankaracharya has conferred onto Lata the title of the Swara Bharati. Now, upon receiving the second honor, Lata Mangeshkar stated that she felt extremely honored and blessed.

Despite being a recipient of many powerful awards like the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, and the Bharat Ratna, Lata Mangeshkar has never shown any signs of pride in her personality. Even as she was honored with the Swara Mauli on Saturday evening, Lata stated that every award she received was equally special to her and that she was extremely happy to be honored with this prestigious award.
