A film without any background music is like and incomplete team. Music captures and brings out the soul of the film. Ennio Morricone was the master who did this in several iconic films. On Monday, July 6 the legendary musician died. He had fallen and broken his femur, last week which became the cause of his death as per his lawyer, Giorgio Assumma.

Further the lawyer said, “The composer’s funeral will be a private affair out of respect for the humility that inspired his whole life.”

He was a legend, who composed over 400 scores for films and his filmography included films such as The Good, The Bad And The Ugly, The Hateful Eight, The Untouchables and Once Upon A Time In The West among other works.

Born on November 10, 1928 in Rome. He started his journey of becoming a music composer at the age of 6. As his interest developed in classical music, he enrolled himself into writing music scores. In the early part of his career, he worked as a studio arranger at RCA Victor and also played for Jazz Bands. Subsequently, he worked with Pop artists also.

Morricone’s career took off with the Dollars Trilogy, directed by Sergio Leone with whom he would work on several films. Another Italian director, with whom he formed a formidable partnership was Giuseppe Tornatore. His work on The Good, The Bad and The Ugly was included in the Grammy Hall Of Fame.

For his prestigious work, he was awarded with six BAFTAs and Three Grammys. While, in 2016 he became the oldest person to win Oscar, for his work on ‘The Hateful Eight’.

Directors such as Oliver Stone, Brian De Palma, Mike Nichols, Roman Polanski and Warren Beatty among others had worked with him.

His death sent shockwaves in the world. Several people mourned it on social media, expressing their condolences. People gave him tribute on Twitter. Director, Edgar Wright tweeted his music as a tribute.

Leaving his family behind him, Ennio has left the world with a vast wealth of work. The members of his family whom he has left behind are his wife and three sons and a daughter.

Although no more, the world will continue to love and remember him as long as humanity is alive.
