Alankrita Shrivastava’s ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ will now be released on July 21 instead of July 28. The release date has been shifted seven days before to avoid the women’s empowerment movie a clash with Anees Bazmee’s comedy ‘Mubarakan’ ,starring Anil Kapoor and his nephew Arjun Kapoor. Producer Ekta Kapoor, Sneha Rajani and director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari decided to shuffle the dates of their movies for a smooth performance at the ticket window, according to a release. Meanwhile, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s comedy ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’, starring Kriti Sanon, Rajkummar Rao and Ayushmann Khurrana was earlier set to release on July 21 but she and producer Preeti Shahani have decided to postpone the film to next available date to August 18 moved to August 18.

‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ was indulged in a highly publicized battle with the Central Board of Film Certification. The film was denied a certificate owing to the sexual scenes and objectionable dialogues. The Prakash Jha production moved the CBFC’s topmost body of appeal, the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal. The CBFC was directed to certify the film, which it did with an Adults only certificate and several cuts, including a reduction in the duration of lovemaking scenes. The movie’s cast includes Ratna Pathak Shah, Konkona Sensharma, Aahana Kumra and Plabita Borthakur. It will be distributed by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms.
