TV actresses joining film industry is not something new. With the level of popularity and work experience TV actors have, it might seem that it would be easier for them to foray into films but it can be actually very difficult as the audience has been seeing them for a long time and a feeling of jadedness might creep in.

Besides this, there are a number of other challenges TV actresses might have to face while making their transitioning journey from the small screens to the big screen. It might be difficult to stay positive amidst unnecessary comparisons and pressure.

But Mouni Roy who has been one of the most popular actresses on TV seems to tackle all these obstacles with great aplomb. The actress made her debut with super hit Gold and is now starring opposite Rajkummar Rao in Made in China.

During a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Mouni opened up about her transition from TV to films. The actress said the unnecessary pressure and comparisons did not affect her since she did not know anyone personally in the industry.

“I didn’t know anybody. Nobody knew me in terms of one on one. They only knew me from my work and what I had done. So it rather made it easy. People who generally knew me were affectionate and supportive towards me,” she said.

The actress further added, “People who didn’t know me and wished well for me, I thanked them. People who didn’t wish well for me or had something negative to say didn’t matter to me because I didn’t know them.”

After Made In China, Mouni Roy will next be seen in Gulshan Kumar’s biopic Mogul that stars Aamir Khan in the titular role. She is also doing Ayan Mukherji’s directorial Brahmastra Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Akkineni Nagarjuna in pivotal roles.
