Ajay Devgn reached Lucknow on Monday afternoon to begin the second schedule of the shooting of his upcoming film Maidaan. The actor has come to the city of Nawabs after finishing the Mumbai schedule.

The shooting for the film began in Sitapur from Tuesday. This is not the first time Ajay is shooting in the city. In fact this is his second film shoot in Lucknow after Raid and this time too the actor will be shooting in and around the city for more than a month.

For the producer of the film Boney Kapoor, this is his third film shoot in Uttar Pradesh after Tevar and Mom which were shot in Agra and Noida respectively. “I have shot two films in UP, one in Agra and one in Noida, this time I am bringing my film to Lucknow. Jab bhi yahan aata hoon achha lagta hai.” Boney said in an interview.

Boney adds, “Idhar ka khana aur idhar ke log, dono hi manpasand hain. Idhar ka mahaul bhi badhiya hai. UP is where I belong to, I was born in Meerut, so whenever I come here, I’m reminded of my childhood. I do think about spending some more time in Lucknow, but work beckons back in Mumbai. But now, thankfully I will be coming here for a longer stay to shoot my next film.”

Maidaan is a film about football coach Syed Abdul Rahim who responsible for India winning the gold medal in the Jakarta Asian Games in the 1963. He also helped India reach the semi-finals in the 1956 Melbourne Olympics.

The film is being directed by Amit Ravindranath Sharma, who’s also directed the supe rhit Badhaai Ho and Tevar. The film also stars South Indian actress Keerthy Suresh, Boman Irani and Gajraj Rao. Other actors include football players who are undergoing training for the film.
