The makers of the upcoming biographical film Maidaan have finalized the release date. The Ajay Devgn starrer sport drama will hit the screens of cinema halls on 27 November next year. The shooting of the film will conclude by March next year.
In the film, Ajay Devgn plays the role of legendary football coach Syed Abdul Rahim who is also known as the father of Indian football for his achievements in making India a top nation in football during his lifetime.
Film trade analyst and critic Taran Adarsh took to his social media account to make the announcement. He wrote, “Release date finalized… Ajay Devgn’s next film #Maidaan – based on the sport #football – to release on 27 Nov 2020… Costars Keerthy Suresh… Directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma [#BadhaaiHo]… Filming will conclude by March 2020.”

Maidaan is a film about football coach Syed Abdul Rahim whois responsible for India winning the gold medal in the Jakarta Asian Games in the 1963. He also helped India reach the semi-finals in the 1956 Melbourne Olympics.
While Ajay Devgn plays the titular role, the film also features Telugu actress Keerthy Suresh who recently won the National Award for Best Actress for her role in the Telugu film Mahanati. This is the first time that Ajay and Keerthy shot together for the film. This movie also marks the Hindi film debut of Keerthy.
Produced by Zee Studios, Boney Kapoor, Akash Chawla, and Arunava Joy Sengupta, the film is directed by Amit Ravindranath Sharma (Badhaai Ho and Tevar), screenplay and dialogues are written by Saiwyn Quadros and Ritesh Shah respectively.
