Just a month before its release, Shah Rukh Khan‘s ‘Zero‘ has been caught in some legalities. A Sikh community has raised its voice against the scene in which Shah Rukh Khan is shown wearing a ‘Kirpan’ (a small dagger carried by Sikhs).

Advocate Amritpal Singh Khalsa, has filed a petition in Bombay High Court claiming that the movie’s trailer and poster has hurt sentiments of the Sikh community.

The petition seek, deletion of the scene in which Shah Rukh Khan is seen wearing a ‘kirpan’.

However, the makers of ‘Zero’ told Bombay High Court that it is just a sword and not a Kirpan, that Shah Rukh is holding in his hand. Director Anand L Rai, told the court Friday that the petition is based entirely on an “erroneous assumption”.

Senior counsel Narvoze Serwai, appearing for Shah Rukh Khan, told the court, “What the lead actor is wearing is not a kirpan. It is an ordinary sword,”

Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) told the court that the certification of the film is still pending as the disputed poster was not the part of the trailer, submitted by the filmmakers.

A division bench of Justices B P Dharmadhikari and S V Kotwal was hearing a petition. “Let the CBFC examine and carry out scrutiny in the light of the points raised in the petition. We refrain from making any remarks at this stage,” Justice Dharmadhikari said.

The fuss is all about a film poster which features Shah Rukh Khan wearing a vest and shorts. He has a garland of Rs 500 notes around his neck and he is holding a Kirpan in his hand, which is diagonally tied on his shoulder.
