The OTT platform is the new theatre. At least, till the time a vaccine does not come and eradicates the pandemic. For now, films are choosing to release on the OTT platform, with the latest one being, Malayalam comedy-drama, Halal Love Story. On October 15, the film will premiere on Amazon Prime Video.

The Director of the film is Zakariya Mohammed, who has described it as a “Rib-Tickling” comedy. While Aashiq Abu produces the film. In a statement released, the director talked about the film and said :

“We have seen immense excitement amongst the audience for the release of the film. Working with this phenomenal ensemble cast has been a wonderful experience.”

On the other hand, producer, Aashiq Abu is confident about the film’s prospects too. He is bankrolling the film along with Harshad Ali and Jesna Ashim under the banner Papaya Films.

His statement on the film, read as follows :

“After the success of Virus, Halal Love Story is going to be the much-awaited reunion movie starring some of the most versatile actors of the Malayalam film industry Indrajith Sukumaran, Joju George, Soubin Shahir, and Parvathy Thiruvothu. We are immensely glad to be able to continue to entertain and bring lots of laughter for the audience even at such uncertain times”.

What is the film about though? Well, the makers have described it as a story about a group of passionate filmmakers. They follow strict guidelines in filmmaking aspects and try to create a film accordingly, resulting in utter chaos and confusion.

Amazon Prime Video continues, to see an onset of films releasing on its platform. Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana‘s Gulabo Sitabo was the first film to release on it directly, skipping theatres. Now, the same trend is being followed by other films too.
