Indian film actor Manav Kaul feels that the auditions do not mean to question your skills. Recently Manav Kaul was seen in a movie titled ‘Tumhari Sulu’ and he only landed a role in the movie after he cleared his audition. He says that he is not having an ego about it because it is a process that lets a director gauge if an actor fits a character.
In the recently released movie ‘Tumhari Sulu’, he essayed the role of an unconventional pairing as a husband to a role essayed by the actress Vidya Balan. Earlier, he has shown his acting skills in the movies like ‘Kai Po Che’, ‘City Lights’, ‘Wazir’, and ‘Jai Gangaajal’. To play the part in the movie ‘Tumhari Sulu’ he has given the audition. The movie was directed by Suresh Triveni.
The main reason to do a movie because he liked the script so much. He says that the script of the movie was really interesting. He wanted to be the part of the movie but for that, he went through an audition. When asked Manav that after getting a lot of praises and he earns a lot of popularity in the theater world and he even got an award as a playwright and as a director, so was it comfortable for him in auditioning the role?
On this, Manav says that there is nothing to feel awkward in the auditions. He feels that the auditions are the best way to cast an actor and moreover he says that a director has all the rights to take an audition before casting an actor.
Moreover, he says that the auditions do not mean that the director is questioning his skills or his capabilities. It is all about the seeing the essence of the character in him and he says that he does not have an ego about it, but he feels that it is a process. Even in his earlier movies like ‘Kai Po Che!’ and ‘Wazir’ he also went through the auditions.
He believes that the makers of the movies are experimenting with the subjects as well as with the stories. Moreover, he feels that the acceptance of all the kinds of cinema to the audience had widened and he feels that it is one of the most positive change.
Manav feels that the room for a variety has been increasing day by day as we have seen that the movie ‘Golmaal Returns’ has shown such a great response at the Box Office. However, there are some of the movies which have even failed to impress the audience. Now, Manav says that he is getting more of an interesting script.
Writers these days are writing more experimental writing and it is also a great time for the technicians as well because there is more of an innovative set designing and visual treatment is happening these days. When they are talking about the experiments it also includes the cinematographer, art director, sound, and music everything. He believes that the cinema is going through a tough time.
