Manoj Bajpayee is all set to mesmerize movie watching audience with his toughest role till date (he himself admitted to it) in the film Gali Guleiyan. The film is directed by Dipesh Jain and is one of its kind psychological drama. In an interview, Manoj revealed how this character of Khuddoos took a toll on his health.

Gali Guleiyan is called as In The Shadows in the international market and has won several awards including Best Actor for Manoj Bajpayee. When asked about the irony that he is often celebrated in the international arena but when it comes to Indian awards shows he is often ignored, point in case his brilliant performance in Aligarh. Manoj said he isn’t sad about not getting an award and now audience knows who is deserving and who isn’t.

He said, “See, if you don’t give me an award or if you don’t give another actor who’s deserving enough to win the award and you give it to somebody who’s you know, everybody knows that he is not deserving then I am not concerned about it, I am not feeling sad about it because I have another film which is waiting for me to just go ahead and do it. But you know the award functions they should actually be interested in gaining their credibility back. Because, it’s not about actors, it’s about the people who are organising these awards, it’s about the people who are deciding the jury. And jury’s decision cannot be very frivolous. You have to put your mind on it, then only you can celebrate the excellence of cinema, in that year. If you don’t give us the award we’ll not go. Everybody will start losing the interest. Even the audience is losing the interest forget about us. Everybody knows the awards are given without much of a thought. Award fucntions have to pull up their socks if they really want audience to take them seriously.”

Gali Guleiyan is out now. Starring Manoj Bajpayee, Ranvir Shorey, Shahana Goswami, Neeraj Kabi and child actors Om Singh and Arbaaz Khan, Gali Guleiyan is directed by Dipesh Jain. According to some of the reviews, this is Manoj Bajpayee’s performance of a lifetime.
