The theatre and TV actor, television presenter, radio jockey, model and voice-over artist Mantra has been roped in to play the role of Najib-Ud-Daulah Ashutosh Gowariker’s upcoming historical drama ‘Panipat’. The filmmaker has put together some very talented actors from the film industry for his movie.
Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Kapoor, and Kriti Sanon have already been finalized and now Mantra aka Puranjit Dasgupta has been added to the cast list. He will be seen as Najib-Ud-Daulah in the film, who was an important part of the third battle of Panipat.
The producer Sunita Gowariker said, “Najib-Ud-Daulah was one of the key persons in this epic battle. He was a Rohilla Yousafzai Pashtun, who was blessed with a brilliant political acumen. For this part, we were looking for an actor who not only looked the part but also had the dexterity to pull off such a complex role. When we met Mantra, we instantly knew that he was the perfect fit for the role. He is immensely talented and we are happy to have him onboard.”
Sunita Gowariker and Rohit Shelatkar are bankrolling this historical drama which is slated to release on December 6, 2019. Veteran actress Padmini Kolhapure is also playing a pivotal role in the movie.
Mantra made his acting debut in Vishesh’s film Tum Mile and was last seen in 2018’s ‘High Jack’. He also owns a production company titled Mantramugdh Productions.
