In 1999, the Warchowskis released sci-fi film ‘The Matrix’ which upended the whole sci-fi genre. Actors in the film got worldwide recognition after it, especially lead actor Keanu Reeves. The matrix eventually had two more films after the first part and now a fourth film is set to arrive. Star of the franchise, Keanu Reeves is returning as the main character Neo.
Talking about what led him to come back for the fourth part of the franchise, the actor in an interview with Empire magazine said it was Lana Wachowski’s “beautiful script” for Matrix 4 that compelled him to come back.
The actor further said that the film will contain some meaningful things which intrigued him more to come back. Empire magazine quoted him as saying, “Lana Wachowski wrote a beautiful script and a wonderful story that resonated with me. That’s the only reason to do it. To work with her again is just amazing. It’s been really special, and the story has, I think, some meaningful things to say, and that we can take some nourishment from.”
Production on the film started in February but got halted in March after the crew moved from San-Francisco to Berlin. The Coronavirus pandemic forced the shooting to halt. Warner Bros who are producing the film, expect to start work again in July.
Not only Keanu but two other actors are also coming back to reprise their roles. Carrie-Anne Moss and Jada Pinkett Smith as Trinity and Niobe respectively.
Releasing in 2021, New additions to the cast are Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris, Brian J Smith, Toby Onwumere and Jonathan Groff.
