Protests in America in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death have picked up steam. Several celebrities have also joined the protests in his support. Yesterday, British actor, John Boyega took to streets in London to take part in the protests. The star of Star Wars sequel trilogy, gave a powerful speech to the audience.

Boyega, started his speech, emphasizing how black lives have always mattered and have always been important. He further added, “We have always meant something. We have always succeeded regardless. And now is the time. I ain’t waiting.”

The actor, who was almost in tears while giving the speech, fought them back and went on to elaborate his point to the audience gathered. In his speech full of courage and passion he further said

“I’m speaking to you from my heart. Look, I don’t know if I’m going to have a career after this, but fuck that. Today is about innocent people who were halfway through their process. We don’t know what George Floyd could have achieved, we don’t know what Sandra Bland could have achieved, but today we’re going to make sure that won’t be an alien thought to our young ones. In the wake of George Floyd’s death, America has been embroiled in protests, some of them which have turned massively violent have also caused mass destruction to properties.  The fight against racial injustice is spreading around the world, with black people in London too coming out to support the black lives matter movement.

John Boyega, who has starred in the Star Wars films got support from the company behind the series, Lucasfilms. Supporting his speech, they tweeted

“We stand with and support you, @JohnBoyega,” along with a link to Boyega’s full speech.

The company also released a statement which expressed their support towards Boyega and the black community.
