‘Mere Pyare PM’ collection: The film turns to a disaster, collects ₹28 lakhs in its first weekend

Mere Pyare Prime Minister collection

Last week released Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra directorial ‘Mere Pyare Prime Minister’ completed its first weekend at the box office along with several other movies and the film based on the social issue of open defecation and women safety tanked at the box office.

The only Asian film which was screened at the Rome Film Festival ‘Mere Pyare Prime Minister’ collected around ₹28 lakhs at the box office.

Mehra’s directorial opened with positive reviews and appraisals from the audience and critics but failed to make good numbers at the box office.

On its very first day, the film earned ₹8 lakhs net at the Indian box office and is much less than expected from a Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s film.

The film stars National Award-winning actress Anjali Patil, Om Kanojiya and Niteesh Wadhwa. It highlights the divine relationship between a mother and a son.

A film was made on the same topic last year titled ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ but Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra brings a similar topic with a very unique story. ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ Akshay Kumar was fighting for his wife and in ‘Mere Pyare Prime Minister’, little Kanhu is fighting for his mother, which is heartwarming.

The film has not been politicized by the director, which is usually done in such type of social issue based film. The kids in the film have stolen the show by their performance and music by Shankar Ehsaan Loy perfectly suits the situation.
