There is less of drama in Bollywood now, says Milan Luthria!

The Indian film director Milan Luthria says that there is less of drama in Bollywood movies now. Currently, Milan is gearing up for his upcoming Indian action thriller movie title ‘Baadshaho‘, which is the fourth collaboration with Ajay Devgn. The movie is written by Rajat Arora. The movie is said to be a story of six badasses set in the emergency period of 1975 when they looted a truck full of gold. It stars Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, Esha Gupta, Ileana D’Cruz and Vidyut Jammwal in the lead roles.

Director, Milan Luthria says that the concept of drama has been diluted from the narrative to use it in the Bollywood industry. Milan says that “Drama has reduced (from Bollywood films). Heroes’ machoism, heroines’ elegance (‘nazakat’) and the fear of villains have been diluted…International cinema is also going towards period drama…It is larger than life. It appeals to me personally.” Moreover, Milan said, “Audience don’t look at the period that the film is set in but of the story.”

Milan said that just like his previous movies ‘The Dirty Picture’ and ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbai’, which was set in the 1970-1980s, even his upcoming movie “Baadshaho” is also set 1970, against the backdrop of the Emergency. Milan said, “I don’t have a fixation with the period. It (‘Baadshaho’ also set in the 1970 era) is a coincidence.”

His upcoming movie ‘Baadshaho’ will revolve around a royal family of Rajasthan and on how their property gets looted after the declaration of Emergency. The movie narrates the fictional story of six people and they are trying to bring a change in their destiny by pulling off a heist. Luthroff was in Delhi for the promotion of the film with the star cast Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, Esha Gupta and Ileana D’Cruz.

This will be the fourth time when Actor Ajay Devgn and director Milan Luthria are collaborating. Earlier the duo have worked in the movies like “Kachche Dhaage”, “Chori Chori” and “Once Upon a Time in Mumbai”. On this Ajay Devgn said, “Our friendship is not for the last 18 years, and not from the time of ‘Kachche Dhaage’. It is before that…We don’t need to discuss many our requirements. There is a comfort zone. I know what Milan wants, and he knows how will I perform.”

“Baadshaho” is scheduled for September 1 release.
