There is a beautiful graph of the woman ‘Mimi’ which I am playing in the film. She is a dancer who is also very ambitious and wants to be an actress. The script is beautiful and shows her journey about how she ends up becoming a surrogate mother and what all happens, how her life changes and with that she changes.”

The actress also clarified that while the subject of the film is a serious one but the film will be lighthearted. “It’s not preachy or serious. It’s not like you are going to watch a film on surrogacy and it’s going to be a documentary film. It’s a very entertaining film, filled with humour, and a lot of ups and downs,” she said.

Mimi is based on the 2010 Marathi movie Mala Aai Vhhaychy that dealt with growing surrogacy practices in India where women are used as surrogates by foreigners.
