The upcoming film Mr. Lele, which stars Varun Dhawan, Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead, is a comic thriller in the commercial space, according to a report in Mumbai Mirror.

The report further revealed that the story of the film revolves around the three protagonists, who are involved in a mysterious incident that leads to hilarity. “The film is currently in pre-production stage. The dialogue draft for the film is currently in the works and it is expected to go on the floors in the first week of March,” a source close to the development told the news daily.

The source also shared that Shashank Khaitan, who is directing the film, is scheduled to go on a recce in the city later this month as the team will also be shooting at real locations.

While Varun Dhawan and Bhumi Pednekar were reported to be part of the film since the beginning, Janhvi Kapoor was reported to come on board recently after Kiara Advani exited the project due to date issues.

The report quoted a source as saying, “The makers were keen to get Janhvi on board as she and Varun have not worked together before. The team had a narration for her last week and she instantly agreed.”

While Kapoor and Khaitan have previously worked on Dhadak (Kapoor’s debut film), Mr. Lele marks the third collaboration of Dhawan and Khaitan. He has directed Dhawan in two commercially successful films Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and its sequel Badrinath Ki Dulhania. The film marks the first collaboration of Pednekar with the director. It would be the first time that these three actors would come together on the big screen.

The film is reported to be produced by Karan Johar’s banner Dharma Productions which backed Dhawan and Kapoor’s debut films Student of The Year and Dhadak respectively.
