mubarakan movie review!

Anees Bazmee‘s movie ‘Mubarakan‘, which is a romantic Comedy film finally released today. The movie which features Arjun KapoorAnil Kapoor,  Ileana D’Cruz and Athiya Shetty in lead roles.

Anees’s movie is a double-role angle, which separated in childhood, twins Karan and Charan (both the roles played by Arjun Kapoor). Their parents want both of them to marry as per their wishes, but they are already in love with Ileana D’Cruz( playing the character of Sweety) and Neha Sharma (is playing the character of Nafisa). Later, things get complicated when Charn gets engaged to a girl Binkal (Athiya Shetty) in London. Charan being a shy guy could not tell his parents about his relationship and that leads to a big-intra family feud that ends when Charan’s uncle swears to marry him off in exactly one month.

However, Anil Kapoor, essaying the character of Kartar Singh is yet to come to add more complication and confusion to the already-messed up affair. Mubarakan movie has full on loud music and solid bass as expected from Bazmee’s movie. Arjun walks in with a slow motion and dances to a peppy tune. But, Anil Kapoor steals all the limelight from his nephew Arjun Kapoor. In the movie Anil Kapoor can be seen driving a vehicle that has slogans like ‘Buri nazar wale tera muh gora’ and ‘You are chasing a Punjabi’ written all over it. He then employs an English man who mouths dialogues like ‘Baadshaho tussi lassi pio’ and ‘Meri pagar padhao.’

Anil Kapoor tries his best to hold the family and the story together. As someone who unknowingly keeps creating chaos, he has been rightly given a good screen time. Actor Pavan Malhotra has outperformed in a couple of scenes as an hotelier who hates to be seen down upon.

In the second half, the movies show some witty character sketches. The indecisive Arjun Kapoor and self-musing Anil Kapoor successfully establish a mood where you don’t mind dialogues like, “Iss Baar Christmas 25 ko hai?” or, “Ye mooli, maamooli nahi hai.” When you see somebody falling from the window while trying to find the mobile network.

The second half of movie gets totally centered on Anil Kapoor and his antics. However, in the movie Welcome, he doesn’t get much support from his co-actors and gigs become repetitive in nature. Well, talking about the climax, director Anees Bazmee does not waste much time in clearing the confusion. Bazmee takes time here as some of his characters go for long monologues. This slows down the pace and gives the audience a chance to realise the loopholes in the otherwise over-simplified story.

Mubarakan has been designed as a family film, where comedy is generated through quarreling relatives. Family entertainment is clearly at the core and Mubarakan manages to deliver enough laughs.
