Sanjay Gupta makes his films for the big screen. He makes larger than life cinema, which doesn’t cater to the small screens. On Tuesday he hinted that his next film, Mumbai Saga might get a theatrical release.

It’s been months since theatres were shut. On October 15 the government allowed their reopening but producers are not willing to release their new films in this uncertain environment.

Many big films such as Gulabo Sitabo, Shakuntala Devi, and the upcoming Akshay Kumar starrer Laxmii were released on an OTT platform this year. The shut down of theatres forced the makers of the respective films to take this decision.

Even Sanjay Gupta’s Mumbai Saga was to come out in June this year but the shutdown affected its release. Like other films, it faced the brunt of delay and now a new release date is being pondered.

Every director wants to release their film on the big screen, and Gupta is no different. Currently, he is in the midst of post-production work on the film, which he feels is best suited for a theatrical release.

In a Twitter post, he revealed why his film is most suited for theatres. He posted the following tweet :

Mumbai Saga is set in the 1980s-90s and shows how Bombay transformed into the present-day Mumbai.

The ensemble gangster drama boasts of a stellar cast which includes John Abraham, Emraan Hashmi, Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, Gulshan Grover, Ronit Roy, Prateik Babbar, and Amol Gupte.

Producing the film are Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Anuradha Gupta, and Sangeeta Ahir.

Sanjay Gupta‘s last film was the Hrithik Roshan starrer, Kaabil which was released in 2017. The film performed well at the box office and was a hit.

Let’s see if his film gets a theatrical release or not.
