Munna Bhai is one of the most loved film franchise in Bollywood. Staring with Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. in 2003 then its sequel Lage Raho Munna Bhai in 2006, the series has won the hearts of the fans over the years.

It has been quite some time since the announcement about the third installment was made. While the fans are eagerly waiting for the film to go on the floors, Arshad Warsi has revealed the status of the film.

During a recent interview with Mumbai Mirror, the actor admitted that he has given up on the film but the film’s director Raju Hirani and others are persevering. “Raju is working on the second half of the script. To be honest, I have given up, but Raju is not giving up, Vinod (Vidhu Vinod Chopra, producer) has not given up, Abhijat (Joshi, writer) has not given up. Whenever they are ready, Sanju (Sanjay Dutt) and I will be ready, too,” he said.

It has been more than a decade since the time Lage Raho Munna Bhai came out. The long gap between two films of a franchise might make it difficult for the actors to pick up the old character.

Talking about the same, Arshad Warsi had said in the past, “I tend to do my film and forget about my character and I move on to the next one. I tend to forget, which is what happened with Munna Bhai. When I came for the second part, I was doing the same role differently. I realised something isn’t quite right. Then Rajkumar Hiranni and I saw a couple of scenes from the first one and remembered how I should be doing. This time too, I’m sure I’ll do it.”

While the franchise is taking up its time, we might get to see “Munna Bhai” and “Circuit” together on the big screen in another film which is likely to go on the floors in a few months.

“Sanju and I will start working on a film next year. It’s a crazy script, a project by Sajid-Farhad. The film is likely to go on floor by March-April next year. We’ll probably head to Budapest for the first schedule of the film,” Arshad Warsi recently said in an interview.

Talking about the story of the film, Arshad shared, “Sanju plays the role of a blind don. I am his eyes. The challenge is that nobody can know that he is blind, and I cannot tell anyone that he is blind. I am actually directing him throughout the film. It’s quite a fun script.”

Meanwhile on the work front, Arshad is all set for his upcoming film Pagalpanti  where he will be seen with Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Ileana D’Cruz and others. Directed by Anees Bazmee, the film is slated to release on 22 November.
